Gummies Gummies

Updated: Jan 23, 2024

Gummies, gummies everywhere

I thought I’d take a few moments to address gummies as a dose form for the delivery of nutritional supplements. They are everywhere it seems, and the number of them available is simply overwhelming. Supplements and multivitamin gummies now come in all sizes, shapes, and colors.

They are very eye-catching, and 13% or more of adults choose their supplements based on what appeals to them in the store. But how do gummies stack up against traditional tablets or capsules?

Traditional pills and capsules don’t always make it easy to take your supplements. They can be difficult to swallow, have an unpleasant smell or taste, and can cause upset stomachs, especially if not taken with food. Gummies address most of those concerns. They taste great, and particularly for people who can’t swallow pills, gummies provide an alternative to chalky chewable or large pills. Experts still recommend taking gummies with food, but they tend to be easier on your stomach since they lack some of the binding agents found in tablets.

As with everything, however, there are a few watch-outs for gummies of which we should all be aware. First, added sugar. Too much sugar can lead to obesity, diabetes and heart disease. Some manufacturers load up to 8 or 10 grams of sugar into one of their servings. That may not seem like much, but it could represent up to 40% of the recommended daily intake of sugar, according to the American Heart Association. We recommend sugar-free, like Aspid RDZ. Another concern is additives and artificial flavoring. Again. Aspid RDZ is the product of choice.

So get the most out of your gummies. Talk to your healthcare provider about products and how much you should take.

  1. Read the label to ensure the correct ingredients and low or no sugar.

  2. Choose gummies which are tested and manufactured by reputable companies.

  3. Pay attention to the recommended doses and serving sizes to avoid taking too much.

Until next time, take care of yourselves and each other.
